At last.

A day to herself.... Completely free....

Maybe she should finally succumb to the sleep that had been eluding her the past week....

Or call up her parents.....


She called them... Her mother picked up within the first three rings....

"Hello ma...."

"Finally you called.... Been waiting for you to call.... Did not want to disturb you...."

"I know... How are you? Dad?"

"Fine.... I should be asking you this Shri.... Am still getting worried every night at the thought of you being so far away and all alone.... "

"Ma.... Please...."

"I know...." her mother sighed.... "If only your dad can get a transfer, we will be there the next hour...."

"I think he will ma.... And you two don't listen when I tell you that he should stop working...."

"He doesn't want to be home doing nothing...."

"Hmm.... Know what ma... I have this whole day off... And am wondering what I should be doing today.... Oh....I know what you will say.... Go to the temple right?"

"No... Take rest Shri... You sound real tired..."

"I feel better than how I sound...."

"Did you eat?"

"Er.... I will be eating in sometime..."

"What did you cook for yourself today?... Don't eat out there...."

"I won't ma... That rather reminds me... I got to be off to cook now...."

"Call me up again.... Or shall I?"

"You can call anytime... Or what say I call you in the evening?... Will get to talk to both of you then..."

"Fine then Shri.... Be careful"

Shriya wasn't thinking about food... It was the last thing on her mind then...

She remembered the announcement in the local papers....

And got ready to go....
