A Lonely Road And Nothing At the End

BETWEEN THEM
Part 11

She slipped her hand in her pocket.... It felt warm.... That was why she liked to stitch in pockets in her salwar suits.....

Time for a long walk....

Bangalore in december could be the world's best and worst place to be in... best since she could walk on for hours together all alone on the roads late in the evening..... cooling off.... and worst because one could cool off too much and freeze out there....

Also.... It was a city she wasn't very fond of....

A city that seemed strange and new, yet familiar... that she was more worried than secure.... It was that kind of familiarity...
She walked on.... not bothered about her slow pace...

Benson Town was a nice neighborhood.... a quiet residential place.... And a walk down the main roads always seemed to instill some peace....

There was a coffee shop at a corner.... But tonight she did not want to go there....
She walked by the cemetery..... And on to the start of the palace grounds......

She turned back there..... And slowed further.....

The night air was chill.... But the warmth of memories kept her temperature up.....

He was still in the very same place in her heart..... She had tried innumerable times to take him out of her Self.... out of her mind.... out of her thoughts....

And every day she told herself that she had done it
And every night she had cried to herself over the fact that he still held on inside.....

She badly wanted to go back and change all that..... No new class.... No meeting anyone.... No falling for anyone.... No memories, desires, wishes, wants......
And no stupid walks alone in the nights... And no tears in her eyes..... As there were now....

No Krish...

She took a turn off the normal course...into a by lane... And walked down....
The street lights here were dull and dim.... And there was a mist forming....

She shivered.....
She reached the end.... And turned around.... Dead ends everywhere.... What a city!

On the way home.... She realized that her shivers were getting profound....
Not due to the cold.... But due to something nervous within her.....

As she opened the door..... She realized that her answering machine was beeping.....
