She checked the machine.... Some unknown number...
There was a voice message.... She switched it on and started changing into warmer clothes....
"Hi Shriya...."
A voice she couldn't place .... A long pause....
"This is Rithi here.... Would like to talk with you.... Please call me back..."
Shriya cut off the recording before she said the number.....
She was shivering again... badly....
She reached for the coffee maker..... A hot brew
She sat down on the floor.... and pulled a few cushions onto her lap.... Leaned on the wall... and closed her eyes....
Why was Rithika starting it now..... just when she was convinced that maybe he was out of her life...at least.....
It was evident there was something wrong.... Rithika had tried to sound friendly.... Her tone... her usage of words... Her introducing herself as Rithi... instead of her full name.... and the plain fact that she didn't say why she was calling....
Everything had a hidden sense.....
Shriya took a few deep breaths..... She wasn't going to call back... no way....
She set the coffee mug on the floor and walked to the machine..... she flipped on the calls and deleted it....
And then wondered who could have given her number to Rithi......
She made her way back to the coffee..... It had gone cold.....
So had her heart.... With his memories....
What was warm that night in Shriya's world were her tears streaming down her tired face...
