"I can take that suitcase....."

"That's fine.... I was sent along to carry them anyway...."

Preetha smiled.... Maybe this is what they called chivalry.....


She studied him as he led the way..... He looked tired, yet that light in his eyes were proof enough that he was enjoying whatever he was working hard for.....

And he was more handsome than last year.... when she had still been an under grad home with her sister for semester break......

He had set the case into the boot.... and he opened the back door for her.... she got in....

He sighed..... Might be this girl did not know car etiquette.....


The car was well out of the airport by the time she spoke...

"How have you been? Real long since we met right?"

"Yes... Been a nice year... "

"For me too.... Happy I got placed.... Gives you a sense of independence right?"

"Which?"

"I mean being able to earn your own bread...."

"Hmm"


Something told Preetha that Krish was not going to get farther than his monosyllable answers...

The rest of the ride was silent within that car....

She remembered the way he had flirted with her before.... But even then he had never gotten too close to her....

It was sheer indifference....


She was staring at her fingernails as she wondered how close she would like to get to him.....
